Conferences in Iceland

An increasing number of companies and corporations around the globe, particularly those keen to try something new, are choosing Iceland when it comes to holding meetings and conferences. And for good reason. Iceland’s meeting and conference facilities are top-class, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and staffed with friendly professionals that are skilled in making every event a success. With a population of only 300,000, Iceland is small enough to afford ease and comfort in planning, yet cosmopolitan enough to offer expertise in the execution of any meeting or conference. Not to mention the added bonus of excellent dining, leisure and recreation.

Iceland enjoys an excellent reputation when it comes to holding conferences and meetings. As a result of its geographical location midway between North America and Europe, Iceland has soaked up influences from both sides. Also, being a small island nation, Icelanders have actively forged ties with other nations.  Consequently Icelanders are sophisticated and well travelled and have good proficiency in foreign languages. English is spoken by virtually everyone, and many speak German, French, Spanish, and one or more of the Scandinavian languages.

In the global business community, Iceland enjoys an excellent reputation in many sectors. Icelandic experts provide consultancy services to governments and organisations throughout the world in the geothermal energy and fisheries industries. Iceland was also party to an international project to test the use of hydrogen as a new energy, and today operates hydrogen buses on the streets of Reykjavík. Other notable industries in Iceland are genetic research, pharmaceuticals and tourism.  One of the advantages of being small in scale is that there is refreshingly little red tape in Icelandic businesses and organisations.

Many international firms who choose Iceland as a site for their meetings or conferences have been pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to gain access to companies and institutions that are in similar fields as themselves. Indeed, many Icelandic businesses welcome the opportunity to exchange ideas and share knowledge, and such interchanges have added an enjoyable dimension to many a conference.
